Epilepsy Mississauga aims to bring awareness and support to people whose lives have been touched by epilepsy and the general public.  If you are interested in support or information, please contact the office.

Women's Support Group Every 3rd Thursday of the month
*on break for summer, will continue in September 2006

Men's Support Group Every 4th Wednesday of the month

Parent's Support Group Every 2nd Wednesday of the month

Epilepsy Mississauga is also available for in-school presentations.  If you or your school requires an in-class presentation please contact the office.

We are constantly eager to grow!  If you are a teenager or young adult and are looking for support, friends or a place to play and share please contact us.

Descriptions:

Homework Club (Tutoring)
Our Homework Club is a program for children who are having trouble doing their homework. The children get one-on-one attention and lots of motivation.
 
Resource Library
Our resource library offers current materials, books, pamphlets, magazines, articles, CD-ROMs, and videos to members and the general public to increase knowledge about epilepsy.

Children's Camp
Summer camps for children living with epilepsy.

Kids on the Block
Our troupe of volunteer puppeteers and their life-size puppets offer skits on Epilepsy awareness, understanding, and first-aid in order to increase education and increase public awareness about epilepsy. This is offered at no charge to schools throughout Mississauga. Kids on the Block is a puppet show.
 
Educational presentations are offered to schools, agencies, businesses, service clubs, and the general public. These include Epilepsy awareness and first aid presentations.

Newsletter

Our newsletter is published on a quarterly basis and includes information about upcoming community events, programming schedules, and current information about epilepsy and its treatment.


Support Groups
Monthly meeting to support and educate about epilepsy.
 
Counseling
We offer support and referrals to individual clients by appointment, walk-in or telephone. Counseling is available on an individual or group basis.
 
Volunteer Programs
We give students and interested persons a chance to volunteer with a variety of opportunities to assist with agency programs and to increase their skills and experience.
 

Employment Support

- Assistance in finding volunteer placements

- Assistance in referrals to employment agencies

 

Public Education

- We campaign to improve the understanding of epilepsy in schools
